-* are we still trying to work with the ProjectScreening process? If "yes", how do these roles correspond with that processs? How does each role correspond with each process? --SamRose 13:07, 17 September 2007 (EDT)+
-* Hey Frederic, maybe you didn't see this question here? Perhaps we should set up a time sometime over the next couple of weeks to discuss this via phone? --SamRose 07:18, 18 September 2007 (EDT)+

-I think that YCombinator, Seedcamp and FundCamp belong to what we called Seed Accelerators that change in an interesting way the dynamics the ProjectScreening process by compressing the 4 first stages (idea, Founding team, prototype, stakeholders) in a contracted camp/post camp fixed period. I believe the subsequent stages stay the same but that accelerating the 4 first stages could be of value for "certain" type of projects. -- FredericBaud 08:47, 18 September 2007 (EDT)+

-That helps. So, during the actual face to face camp/conference, you'll be going through idea, Founding team, prototype, stakeholders process as a group, is that right? Would you say that the collaboration platform was envisioned by you as being part of this face-to-face camp process? Is there voting at each "gate", or some other decision-making threshold to cross? --SamRose 13:11, 18 September 2007 (EDT)+

-You're right that idea gate is probably prior to the selection. In fact, a seedcamp is organizing 3 gates of its own.+
-# gate 1: selection of project to participate to the camp+
-# gate 2: selection of projects after the week to get funded (projects then get incorporated)+
-# gate 3: selection of projects after a couple of month of development to get a first round+
- +
-If we relate that to the ProjectScreening process+
-# gate 1: we crossed the idea gate+
-# gate 3: we crossed the Founding team, prototype and stakeholders gate to get a proper project for standard VC's investment.+
- +
-So a seed camp is kind of compressing and reorganizing everything between crossing the idea gate and reaching the stakeholder gate. gate 2 is an important filter, but it does not entirely map to the standard ProjectScreening process. I believe that therearrangement of the seed period is what can lead potentially to a more effective process.+
- +
-I think that the collaboration platform is then important prior to the camp, and for all the projects that do not cross the selection gates so that they can continue improving.+

Introduction

This page should be used to describe the specifications we want to give to a platform supporting SeedCamps or other FundCamps who are organized to select a couple of startups receiving investment at the end of the camp.

Functional Specifications

Question: It seems like "entrepreneurs", "investors", "mentors" should be roles that people can register under. Does this seem right? --SamRose 13:07, 17 September 2007 (EDT)

Answers: I think this can be roles. Maybe some people could have multiple roles (investor and mentor). I think we should have for every individual content (read content_type) associated to his declared role (a mentor should have a field expertise, a field bio,..; an investor should have a field industry profile, level of investment, investment bio,...) -- FredericBaud 16:04, 17 September 2007 (EDT)

For entrepreneurs

Visibility

 • Ability to expose their project to give them visibility

Screening

 • Ability to get a list of investors to contact

Investors relationship management

 • Private place where to store sensitive information and control access to it

Coaching

 • Ability to consult anonymized information and results for the different projects
 • Ability to ask questions to particular mentors
 • List of reference links for startup knowledge

Question: How do we qualify entrepreneurs(if at all)? Is it open registration for all? Or, just for those involved in FundCamp?--SamRose 13:07, 17 September 2007 (EDT)

Answers: I think this is open registration for anyone. That does not mean that the entrepreneur applies to a FundCamp, just that he/she is ready to communicate and receive mentor ship. I don't know yet if application to a FundCamp should be make public or let at the discretion of the entrepreneur to let this information being published. -- FredericBaud 16:04, 17 September 2007 (EDT)

For investors

Screening

 • Ability to file projects per domains

Due Diligence

 • Ability to share information and discuss projects

Question: How do we qualify Investors? Is it open registration for all? Or, just for those involved in FundCamp?--SamRose 13:07, 17 September 2007 (EDT)

Answers: In a first stage, I would suspect that this is only for investors involved in a FundCamp that agree have their information made public (something we should strongly recommend, but probably not require as mendatory). -- FredericBaud 16:04, 17 September 2007 (EDT)

Negociation

 • Syndication between investors

Question: Can you explain this more? What do you mean by "syndication"?

Answers: This is probably something not necessary for FundCamps. This is the ability for different investors to pool their investment capabilities to fund a specific project. For FundCamps, pooling is done prior to the due diligence process. This feature would be for some kind of continuous FundCamp (like projects that have not been funded during the last camp, but developed enough so that investors start to be interested in funding them "over the counter". -- FredericBaud 16:04, 17 September 2007 (EDT)

For mentors

Screening

 • Ability to identify projects looking competencies corresponding to the mentor's

Coaching

 • Ability to provide coaching to specific projects
 • Ability to help in the building of business documents (exec summary, investor pitch, business plan,..)

Meta questions
